In the heart of the historic Marais district, narrow medieval streets
and ancient houses rub shoulders with splendid 17th and 18th C ‘Hotels
Particuliers’ , those grand private mansions of bygone days. Today many
have become museums and the Musée Picasso and the Musée Carnavalet – the
Museum of the History of Paris – are just a few blocks away. The streets
of the Marais are full of wonderful old buildings, secret courtyards and
other architectural beauties. A favourite of both Parisians and
tourists.
A short walk to the east takes you to the most beautiful 17th C square
in Paris, the Place des Vosges, and to the west explore the elegant
arcades of the Palais Royal as well as the designer boutiques on the
Place de la Victoire. The rue des Francs Bourgeois, one block away, is
another shopping favourite, with lots of boutiques open on Sundays ! The
Seine is within 10 minutes walk and just over the river you can explore
the Ile St Louis and the Ile de la Cité (Notre Dame, the Conciergerie,
the Sainte Chapelle) the flower and bird market, are also within easy
reach by foot. The Louvre is also within walking distance, and the metro
will take you direct to the Champs Elysées in an easy 10 minutes.
Restaurants and cafés from simple to sophisticated, according to your
mood and appetite. The perfect base from which to enjoy Paris both by
day and by night !
We especially recommend this sophisticated and spacious apartment (some
50m²) which has been newly renovated to an excellent standard. An
elevator (plus half a flight of stairs) take you to this second* floor
apartment. Tall windows on every side, combined with pristine white
walls and fresh print fabrics, ensure that the apartment is bright and
luminous. Double glazing and polished parquet with rugs throughout. The
entrance hall leads to the sitting/dining room with sofa, armchairs,
dining furniture and cable TV (CNN) and two big windows with a view over
the rue Vieille du Temple and a magnificent ‘hotel particulier’. Also
off the hall, japanese style fabric panelled sliding doors open onto the
Bedroom, overlooking roof tops and a quiet side street, with double bed,
good storage, and an excellent en suite shower room with washing
machine,. Separate WC. Excellent well-equipped Kitchen – dishwasher,
microwave, 2 electric burners. Electric radiators throughout. Initial
linen supplied. Local line telephone.
