The Marais is our favourite quartier . Much of the area dates from the 16^th and 17^thC, featuring narrow streets, fine architecture, boutiques, antique shops, restaurants, cafés. Strict building laws protect its authenticity. This is where Parisians chose to wander on weekends ! The centrepiece is, of course, the Place des Vosges, the purest example of 17^thC architecture, its arcaded façade set around a central park with trees and benches - great for a picnic lunch ! Easy walking distance to the Picasso and Carnavalet Museums, Bastille Opera, Ile St Louis, Notre Dame, Ile de la Cité and much more ! Just 5 mins walk on the rue St Antoine you will the best specialist food shops (baker, deli, cheese, fish, wine ...) . in the very best French tradition,  as well as an excellent supermarket.

On the rue des Tournelles, just a step to the east of the Place des Vosges, this is an impressive 1910 century stone-fronted building leading with two brick built courtyards. Our apartment is on the fifth floor of the second inner-courtyard - protected from street noises ! Small elevator takes you to this west-facing apartment overlooking the courtyards and surrounding rooftops.

Some 34m², this attractive well-distributed two-room apartment is perfect for 2 and will sleep up to 4. Carpeted throughout, attractively decorated with some nice antiques in a traditional style and in a superb location, this apartment is excellent value for money !

• To the left off the entrance is first a small Shower room with WC. Washing machine. Next to the left is a well-equipped galley style Kitchen with good built in cupboards, classic oven, 2 electric burners. Next comes the Living room with a cherry wood sofabed (which converts into 1 or 2 really comfortable single beds with proper mattresses) dining furniture. TV, radio and a selection of English books ! Beyond is the Bedroom with double bed and lots of built-in cupboards - a rarety in Paris ! - and double glazing. Gas central heating. Hair dryer. Initial linen supplied. Local line telephone.
