On the
Left Bank of Paris, the Quartier Mouffetard is renowned for its officially recognised and protected charms of another ear. A
maze of narrow cobbled streets, some wonderful old buildings, miriads of moderately priced restaurants, pavement cafés and most especially the bi-weekly market on the Place
Monge, and the daily market at the south end of the rue Mouffetard.
Take time out on a summer evening watching the world go by on the Place Monge just a few minutes away. The Boulevard St Michel, the Sorbonne, Panthéon, Musée de
Cluny, Luxembourg Gardens, Jardin des
Plantes, Roman Arènes de Lutèce are but some of the interesting place to visit within easy walking distance. A really good location - around 8
mins.
By metro direct to the
Marais, the Ile St Louis, not much more to the Louvre, Ile de la Cité, Notre Dame etc. A delightful paved courtyard with plants, flowers and trees tended by the friendly gardien and a pleasing well kept recent building sensitively reproducing the traditional style.
