RESIDENCE INFORMATION

The Residence is located in a residential district, not far from the port and only 50 m from the large beach. 2 covered markets and a supermarket are a 5 min. walk away, and there is a bakery 100 m away. The Residence has 4 floors with lift and comprises 70 studio apartments.
Les Sables d'Olonne ARRIVAL / DEPARTURE
- TIMES: Arrivals on Saturdays between 5 and 8 p.m.
In case of late arrival or problems, please notify the Residence before 7 p.m.
Departures on Saturdays before 10 a.m.
- RECEPTION: Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday: 8 to 10 a.m. and from 5-to-8 p.m. Closed on Wednesdays. 
- DEPOSIT: 200 € payable on arrival and returned on your departure (cheque, bank card 
or cash)
- VISITOR’S TAX payable on site (indication): 0.49 € per day and per adult (age 13 and up) 
payable from May to late September

Discovering the region
The resort is renowned for its microclimate and exceptional sunshine, as well as for its wild coves. Les Sables d’Olonne is also the ideal point of departure for numerous touring circuits and hikes. Located in the heart of the Vendée, it offers the resplendent nature and varied landscapes of the Côte de Lumière.

Stroll the narrow streets of Les Sables d’Olonne and discoverLes Sables d'Olonne the very special ambience of the Ile Penotte (the picturesque old quarter with its pedestrian alleys and murals made of seashells by local artists) and La Chaume (the Place Sainte Anne has a magnificent trompe l’œil fresco, the work of the artist Manfred Landreau, covering 120 m2 and blending admirably into the local landscape).
The church of Notre-Dame de Bon Port (begun in the middle of the 17th century), the covered central market (an old pavilion in the Baltard style built in 1890), the Tower of Arundel (the “La Chaume lighthouse,” always in activity, which controls the Les Sables d’Olonne, La Tranche and Saint-Gilles lighthouses), the Prieuré Saint Nicolas (built in the 11th century, destroyed in 1622 and rebuilt in 1624, now a venue for meetings and cultural events).
The surrounding area
The Puy du Fou, the Venise Verte (“Green Venice”), the ornithological reserve in the Olonne wetlands, the Sainte Foy and Vairé roads, paths in the Olonne state forest, the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier, etc.

- Discovery tour of Les Sables d’Olonne with the miniature tourist train (the driver, a local resident, will 
captivate you with his commentaries on fishing and tourism and amuse you with anecdotes about 
local life. From 15/06 to 15/09).
- Les Sables d'Olonne Discovery of maritime life with: Le Lys (a catamaran; fishing trips and outings), guided tour of the 
fishing port, discovery of the commercial fishing profession and fishing techniques aboard a trawler 
(12 persons maximum, organised by the OCEAM Association from mid-March through October), 
fishing trips and outings aboard the Aigue Marine.
- Les Salines (salt marshes): 
Boat outings: guided tour by boat on the salt river.
The Jardin des Salines: a favourite stop for excursion boats, also accessible from the village of L’Aubraie near Les Sables d’Olonne. 
The history of salt down through the ages; the site is protected, and wading birds can be observed nesting in the marsh. Visit recommended at sunset.
Canoeing base: outings of from 1 to 5 hrs., observation of flora and fauna.
Zoological gardens: The Sables d’Olonne Zoo houses more than 200 animals amid luxuriant flowering vegetation. Located a stone’s throw from the immense Atlantic beaches.
- Automobile Museum (Route de Talmont, 8 km from Les Sables). From 15/03 to 01/10, every day. 
One of France’s principal Automobile Museums. A collection of 150 vehicles from the De Dion steam 
car of 1885 to the prototypes of the future.
- Museum of the Sea (exhibits of models, objects and various documents).
- Seashell Museum, unique in Europe, located on the fishing port. 35000 tropical seashells, coral, 
crustaceans, etc. from all the world’s seas and oceans illustrate marine life.

Children: beach clubs (ages 2 to 12), performances and circus (approximately twice monthly),

By road:
A10 Motorway, then A11 motorway, direction Chartres, Le Mans, Angers, Nantes. Before Nantes take the direction of Bordeaux, then La Roche sur Yon, and finally Les Sables d’Olonne. 
On arriving at Les Sables d’Olonne, take the “Plages” (beaches) direction, then drive along the ocean to the large clock with a sign directing you to the Residence.
By train:
Les Sables d’Olonne station (a 10 min. walk from the Residence).
Direct trains all during the season.
By air:
Nantes-Atlantique Airport (90 km)
