Building: In the heart of the cultural Upper West Side, this apartment is located on the parlour floor (2nd Floor) of a five-story New York brownstone building. There is no elevator. The building dates from 1886 built by the firm of Sanford White. It is on a residential street ˝ block away from the famous Dakota House. Security is excellent; both front doors are kept locked and entry is with your own key or, for visitors, through an intercom system. A good laundry is located 1 block down the street. Self service or drop off.
Interior: Spacious Living Room with very high vaulted ceiling, and a large working fireplace. Overall the apartment has a romantic feeling, the architecture of the space is turn of the century with outstanding original features. It can sleep one guest comfortably for a B&B situation; it can sleep one couple and one other for special occasions. The master bedroom has a very comfortable, extra thick queen size mattress, especially designed for extra comfort, with down pillows and beautiful sheets and blankets. The living room is well furnished and decorated. Color TV with 640 channels. There is an air conditioning unit which cools the entire apartment very well.
There are many of the owner's private items throughout the apartment and it has little or no storage space. Guests can use an old fashioned clothes rack that accommodates 15-20 hangers to hang their clothes.
The kitchen is very well-stocked. Dishes, coffee pot, pots and pans, toaster oven, place mats, silverware, etc. The bathroom is extra large, period old porcelain sink and very large tub with shower. Towels are provided. Optional breakfast available upon request with extra charge. The room has a phone available for local calls only.
Neighborhood: ˝ block from Central Park for walking, running, strolling, entertainmet activities. 10 Blocks away from Lincoln Center, New York’s cultural center, for opera, ballet, New York Philharmonic, etc. 4 blocks away from the Planetarium, The History Museum, The Historical Society, and a beautiful 20 minute walk across Central Park to the Metropolitan Museum.
A multitude of excellent restaurants abound steps away. Everything from 24 hour New York deli’s and Korean food markets to 4-star restaurants like the Café Des Artists and Café Jon Jacques in the Trump Plaza. Culturally, the Upper West Side is the ideal location. 2 blocks away to convenient subway transportation to Empire State Building, Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty and the famous Circle Line Cruise around Manhattan.
