Description - New York Furnished
Accommodation (NY-11101)
Spacious, very bright one bedroom apartment in
Murray Hill
Location: New York City, Midtown (Murray Hill), on
Park Avenue.
Size: 1-bedroom, dining room, living room, kitchen,
bathroom, about 850 square feet.
Building: A classic Park Avenue doorman building in
the heart of the old Murray Hill residential
neighbourhood. There is a 24-hour doorman and
elevator operator. The building dates from the
1950s, is 21 stories, with two passenger and one
service elevator. The building is cleverly sited on
Park Avenue with generous street trees and is unique
in having many terraces, of which this apartment has
one. There is also a shared roof top terrace with
wonderful views over New York, the Chrysler
Building, and the Empire State Building.
Interior: The apartment is on the 17th floor and has
a wonderful layout with a east, south-east and west
orientation. It is sunny and quiet all day long.
There is a dining room with seating for up to six,
and a comfortable new kitchen with
micro-wave/convection oven, dishwasher, refrigerator
and is fully equipped (plates, pots, pans, cutlery,
etc). The kitchen has a counter with stools and we
typically have breakfast here with views of the
Empire State Building from the kitchen window! The
living room is very elegant with leather furniture,
a full library (art, architecture, literature), and
stereo. The living room gives on to a full-length
planted terrace overlooking Park Avenue with a broad
panorama to the east and south. It is a wonderful
place to read the morning paper, have a coffee and
watch the city. The bathroom is comfortable with a
bathtub/shower and the bedroom has a queen size bed
and is wonderfully quiet with views to surrounding
office and apartment buildings. There are plenty of
closets. The entire apartment is furnished in
classic modern style (Mies, Aalto, LeCorbusier) with
clean white walls, polished wood floors, and prints
on the walls.
Neighbourhood: This is the most central
neighbourhood in New York. Murray Hill is in the
heart of the city and has a wonderful mix of tall
office buildings and tree lined terrace house
streets which make up the Murray Hill Historic
District. There are fine restaurants and bars on all
streets.
It is a 10 to 20-minute walk from key tourist,
business, and cultural places: the Museum of Modern
Art, Grand Central Station, the New York Public
Library, the Empire State Building, the United
Nations, Lincoln Centre, and Central Park. It is
also walk able to shopping on 5th Avenue and Madison
Avenue. It is a 5-10 minute taxi from SoHo,
Greenwich Village, Chelsea, China Town, and Wall
Street.
Others: This is one of the most central places for
public transportation whether by bus or sub-way. For
subways you are near the 4, 5, 6, S, B, D, F, V and
7 lines and with one transfer can access the entire
system. The 104, M1, M2, M3, and M4 bus lines are
the most practical and connect Murray Hill to the
rest of the city.
